Moshe S. Levitin, a partner at Lazar Levine &
Felix LLP, has over 30 years experience. He is a recognized expert
in forensic accounting, as well as in litigation support,
traditional accounting, auditing, and SEC and PCAOB matters. Moe has
held positions with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the
Financial Accounting Standards Board, the AICPA, and in private
industry. He currently serves as an author for the FASB GAAP
Codification project.
Mr. Levitin has directed
and testified in several high-profile litigation matters, and
specializes in economic damage calculations and accountant’s
malpractice cases. He is co-author of the seven-volume and web-based
SEC Compliance Manual: Financial
Reporting and Forms
on Checkpoint,
and has written two checklists
for applying the Sarbanes-Oxley Act internal control requirements
used on Checkpoint,
and published by Warren, Gorham, and Lamont/RIA. His monthly column
on emerging accounting issues appeared in the
Journal of Accountancy
for several years. His articles also have appeared in publications
such as The CPA Journal
and the Practicing Law Institute’s,
Avoiding Legal Malpractice.
Moe wrote the AICPA course,
Helping Your Small Business Client Go Public,
authored the chapter on “SEC Reporting” in the
AICPA Vest-Pocket Accounting and Auditing
Reference, and wrote or edited other
AICPA technical publications, including the
AICPA Audit and Accounting Manual;
the AICPA Quality Control Manual for
CPA Firms; the
AICPA Integrated Practice System;
and the AICPA
Audit, Compilation, and Review Manuals.
He is a frequent lecturer on accounting and auditing, including the
Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, and SEC/PCAOB developments.
Mr.
Levitin is a CPA in
New York,
New Jersey,
and Texas
and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Accounting. He
received his MBA and BBA degrees from Baruch
College
of the City University of New York. He is a member of the NYSSCPA
SEC Practice, Auditing Standards and Procedures, and Litigation
Services committees, and previously served as a member of its
Financial Accounting Standards and Bankruptcy and Insolvency
committees. Moe is an adjunct Associate Professor of Accounting
teaching SEC and PCAOB Accounting and
Reporting. He has taught courses for
the NYSSCPA and the AICPA, and is on the Education and Training
Committee of the National Litigation Support Services Association.
Mr. Levitin also serves as a member of the board of directors of
several nonprofit organizations.
